Teen Driver Education Courses
Teens may begin classroom driver education as young as age 15 years and 9 months, but may not begin driving until they are 16 years of age and have obtained a learner's permit. The Registry of Motor Vehicles requires the driver education course be completed within a two year period. All students create an online account that allows them to check their account status, make payments, schedule in-car driving & observation lessons, as well as sign up for appointment reminders! You must have a valid learner's permit on your person to do any in-car lessons, including observation, be it with MDA or a parent/family member. To ensure quality and safety for all of our in car instruction, we have audio & visual cameras recording inside and outside of all vehicles, at all times.
A 2-hour parent class must be completed before students can schedule any behind-the-wheel lessons, including observation hours.
For teens under the age of 18 to be eligible for a road test, they must complete a full driver education course and hold a learner's permit for six months as well as have fees to Middlesex Driving Academy as well as the MA RMV have to be paid. Once all these requirements have been met, you can schedule a road test to be taken here at our main office. To meet the public's demand, we offer these every other week.
Remember to practice, practice, practice driving with your student! Please understand, we ask you do a minimum of 10 hours of driving on the main roads prior to scheduling your first driving or observing lesson. The number one reason a student passes the Road Test on the first attempt is that they did a minimum of 40 hours (many did more) of driving at home! Those students who do very little at home , it may cause them to take the Road Test several times before getting a "pass" from the RMV Road Examiner! Because of this reason and others, we require our students to have at least ten hours of driving before scheduling driving lessons with MDA. If this requirement is not met, we will cancel all lessons even last minute if necessary!

Traditional Driver Education
This package offers everything necessary to meet Massachusetts driver education requirements. If completed within 2yrs you will receive a driver's education certificate & may be eligible for a discount on auto insurance.

Classroom Hours Only
This package is just 30-hour classroom instruction. All classroom hours are conducted by licensed professional driving instructors well versed in MA driver's education curriculum requirements as well as keeping classes educational and enjoyable!

Parent Class (Free for Members)
This class must be completed before your teen can start their in-car driving lessons. The cost of the parent class is included in all our packages. A fee for parent class is for parents of a student attending class at a different driving school.
The Massachusetts Registry of Motor Vehicles mandates that parents/guardians attend a special two-hour class for teens under the age of 18 trying to obtain their license. This class will provide insight into what your teenager is learning in drivers education and explain the current laws that will most affect you and your child.
The RMV requires your teen to complete a minimum of 40 hours of behind-the-wheel experience under your supervision. This class will provide you with strategies to use when taking your teen out driving as well as tips on how to be a positive role model during driving lessons. We want to help make this time together more enjoyable and less stressful for both of you!
After you have completed the class, you will be issued a certificate that is valid for five years. If you have another teenager(s) who will be attending drivers education before your certificate expires, you will not have to retake the class.

TRANSFER from another driving school/Driving and Observing Only
PLEASE READ CAREFULLY- This package consists of 6 one-hour observation lessons and 12 one-hour behind the wheel lessons for students who have begun driver's ed. elsewhere. You can ONLY sign up for this package if you have completed 30hr of classroom instruction and a 2hr parent class with another school! Before scheduling or receiving any credit for in-car lessons the RMV requires an official transfer request. If any in-car lessons are attended before completing that process you may not receive credit. DO NOT SCHEDULE ANY LESSONS THROUGH OUR WEBSITE OR VIA EMAIL WITHOUT SPEAKING TO THE OFFICE 781-729-1474.

6 Pack of Adult Lessons
This is a package of 6 one-hour driving lessons for adults, that have a current MA learner's permit. These are not private driving lessons; there can be other students in the vehicle. In addition, we do not offer pick up and drop off services outside of Winchester for these lessons as our instructors would like to utilize lesson time helping you focus on maneuvers and building your confidence.
